The Government’s official communications watchdog is warning outdoor enthusiasts their GPS units may be affected by upcoming jamming exercises.

The radio jamming will take place at the Stanford military training area, north of Thetford in Norfolk, in March.

Ofcom said land within 5km (3 miles) of the military range could be affected.

The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path both run close to the Stanford base.

The exercises will take place between 8am and 5pm from 26 March to 30 March inclusive.

Walkers, cyclists and other outdoors users of GPS will have to make sure they have conventional means of navigating, using a map and compass.
