Three Tarns, on the col between Crinkle Crags and Bowfell

A man was airlifted from a fell after collapsing.

The walker was found at dusk yesterday, Saturday, by a group of five other walkers at Three Tarns in Great Langdale in the Lake District.

The walkers raised the alarm and called mountain rescue while helping the man, who was also hypothermic.

Members of Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team went to the site, between Crinkle Crags and Bowfell, and requested a search and rescue helicopter.

The aircraft arrived just before the team members and the walker was helped to the helicopter and flown to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle for medical treatment.

Fifteen Langdale Ambleside team members took part in the rescue, the sixth of the year for the volunteers.
