The Flux 200, smallest tent in the AirBeam range

Scottish tent brand Vango has expanded its range of innovative inflatable-beam tents for the new season.

Five new models have been added to the AirBeam range, which use inflatable beams in place of conventional poles.

The Flux 200 and Flux 500 are quick pitch tents which the company says are ideal for weekends and short breaks for couples and friends with a claimed pitching time of three minutes.

Vango says its tents are ready to use in four easy steps. “All you have to do is take the tent out of the bag, pop a peg in each corner, pump up the inflatable beams and peg down a few guylines,” it says.

The Flux 200 is big enough for two people and sells for £225. The Flux 500 can take up to five people and costs £375.

The tents all come with a pump and this year’s range has larger windows. The smaller tents feature either all-in-one or flysheet first pitching with Protex 3,000HH polyester embossed 70D flysheet, a sewn-in polyester groundsheet and lightweight inner tent groundsheet.

All feature Vango’s TBSII Tension Band System, front mesh door and part-mesh inner door. The tents have easy-find inner clips and come with carry bags.

The Flux 500 weighs 10.6kg and the 200 5.7kg, so not really aimed at backpackers, more valley or base camping.

The Kinetic models offer extra height and have privacy curtains in the bedroom space. Vango says pitching time is five minutes. The Kinetic 400, at 17.6kg and the Kinetic 500 at 19.05km retail at £550 and £600 respectively.

Also offering full stand-up height, the Vango AirBeam Pulse also has a five-minute pitching time. The large front porch is also ideal for dining, relaxing or storage, the company says. The Pulse 450 costs £475 and the Pulse 550 £525, and weigh 14.5kg and 15.45kg respectively.

The Eternity 400 and 600 models are aimed at families looking for plenty of space to house furniture and accessories and are priced at £700 and £800, with weights of 23kg and 26.55kg.

Top of the range is the Shangri-La, which Vango describes as the ultimate in luxury camping with a huge front living area, large windows and plenty of storage options. “The Shangri-La is perfect for groups of friends or families looking to go camping in style. The Shangri-La is sure to turn fellow campers green with envy.” it said.

The Shangri-La takes 10 minutes to put up and costs £1,400. It weighs in at a hefty 63.5kg. More details are on the Vango website.
