The walk will take in the Pennine scenery around Blackstone Edge

Walkers are being invited to join a high-level hike to experience the beauty of the South Pennines with a free trip.

The walk is being organised by Pennine Prospects, a rural regeneration organisation which supports landscape projects in the hills between the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales.

The 12km (7½-mile) walk will take in Robin Hood’s Bed, the rocky outcrops of Blackstone Edge and Green Withens Reservoir, north of the M62.

The guided walk will be led by Derek Southward and will take place on Sunday 25 March, starting at 11.30am.

Anyone joining the walk is reminded to wear suitable warm and waterproof clothing and walking boots. Dogs, other than guide and hearing dogs, are not allowed on the walk.

Those wishing to take part should meet at the layby east of the White House pub on the A58, opposite the junction with the B6138 Turvin Road leading to Cragg Vale.
