The rescue was on the eastern shore of Coniston Water

A mountain biker was rescued after injuring herself in an accident on a Lakeland trail.

The woman fell from her bike while on the trail near Low Parkamoor on the eastern shore of Coniston Water yesterday, Saturday.

Coninston Mountain Rescue Team went to the biker’s aid, in an operation involing 14 volunteer team members.

A spokesperson for the team said: “The lady was treated for ankle injuries and stretchered a short distance to one of the team’s Land Rover ambulances.

“She was taken from the fell and transferred into a land ambulance and taken to Furness General Hospital, Barrow in Furness.”
