The owner of Britain’s highest pub is appealing to walkers for their help in finding a member of the family.

Tracy Daly’s one-year-old pup Lizzie has gone walkabouts and she believes the springer spaniel-cross may have tagged on to walkers on the Pennine Way.

The brown and white puppy has been known to walk up to 20 miles on the national trail and has been found in Teesdale previously.

Ms Daly’s daughter Chelsea said the family is offering a £500 reward for return of the pup.

Friends are gathering tomorrow, Saturday, to search the route from the pub, which stands on the northern boundary of the Yorkshire Dales national park, four miles north of Keld.

The pub is on the route of the 429km (267-mile) Pennine Way, 428m (1,732ft) above sea level.

The dog went missing on Thursday morning. Anyone who can help with the search on Saturday is being offered free refreshments by the pub.

Chelsea Daly said: “She is a very friendly, special puppy. We are hoping to start at 10am tomorrow and will continue from 10am Sunday if she still has not been found.

“She walks both ways with people on the Pennine Way, north and south, has been found in Teesdale before and up to 20 miles from the pub.”

Lizzie is described as ‘skinny’ with a red collar.
