A Coastguard helicopter flew the injured walker to hospital

A walker was airlifted from a Hebridean isle after suffering ankle and back injuries in a fall.

The French woman fell 30m (98ft) while hillwalking near Glen Uig on the Trotternish peninsula on Skye.

Emergency services were alerted about 6pm yesterday, Thursday, and the 69-year-old walker was airlifted by the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter for treatment at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
