The walker got stuck on Jack's Rake, seen running diagonally up to the left on Pavey Ark

A walker had to be rescued from the Lakeland scrambling route where two people died recently.

The man got stuck on Jack’s Rake while attempting the grade-one route on Pavey Ark on Sunday.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out to help the walker about 12.20pm after the weather worsened and rain hit the area.

Eight members of the volunteer team went to his aid and he was helped to safety in an operation lasting 3½ hours.

Susannah Cox of Lancaster and Howard Gladwyn of Menston, West Yorkshire, both died in June this year after falling from the scramble in separate incidents, and a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured when he fell from Jack’s Rake last month.
