A walker was stretchered from a Cumbrian fell today after injuring his leg.

The man was walking alone on Farleton Knott in the South of the county today when he suffered the injury while near the summit of the 265m (869ft) fell.

Kendal Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by police at 3.15pm and went to the walker’s aid.

He was treated at the scene, his leg splinted and then stretchered to one of the team’s Land Rovers which took him from the hill to a waiting ambulance.

Farleton Knott is a limestone fell overlooking the M6 motorway and has extensive limestone pavements.
