There will be more innovation on show in Munich when Osprey reveals a series of rucksacks aimed at the ‘urbanite’.

The ISPO trade show in Bavaria will see the launch of the US brand’s Portal series.

Osprey, best known for its climbing and walking rucksacks, describes the backpacks as feature-focused and style-driven packs for the urban commuter who wants the quality ‘DNA’ of an Osprey pack.

They’re firmly aimed at users who want to get at their tablet PC without exposing it to the elements and there are three models in the range with the brand’s unique feature allowing access to the computer via a rear panel.

Osprey said: “The Cyber Port, Pixel Port and Beta Port packs in the range offer a truly unique design – an innovative Port window that allows the user to view and operate a tablet without removing it from the pack.”

Brunton will also be showing two new hybrid chargers for handheld technology.

The Bump, which will go on sale in UK stores for £35 is described by the company as a hybrid power pack provides that much needed boost for your handheld electronics when you’re on the go. It will be available with either a micro USB or Apple connector.

The bigger Ember, retailing at £75, is a compact power storage reservoir with integrated solar panel.

Brunton said it is optimised for handheld electronics: smartphones and MP3 players. “Designed with the everyday user in mind, the Ember power pack is recharged from your home computer or the integrated solar panel, but tucks easily away in a pack or pocket,” the company said. It includes a 3 in 1 USB cable.
