A group of walkers lost on England’s third highest mountain were guided to safety by a mountain biker.
The four called for help after they got disoriented today on Helvellyn.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 5.30pm to search for the group on the 950m (3,117ft) summit.
A team spokesperson said: “A passing mountain biker kindly guided the walkers from the summit shelter to Thirlmere while the team were searching for the missing group.”

06 May 2013If none of the walkers could navigate the simple route from the summit shelter to the Swirls or Whythburn car parks, they shouldn't have been there. Its like a motorway that path!

07 May 2013Got to agree with previous comments. I simple can't believe there wasn't anyone around to ask advice at 5.30pm on Helvellyn. Instead, these 4 called out volunteers who were expected to give up their hours, drive to Patterdale, race up Helvellyn and bring them down.

10 June 2015Probably the sort of people who normally proudly walk around places like Keswick and Ambleside with gore-tex, walking poles and unscuffed shiny boots.
