The 2014 Wainwright Society calendar is now on sale

A calendar featuring photos from aficionados of the late guidebook author Alfred Wainwright has gone on sale.

Proceeds from sales of the calendar, produced by the Wainwright Society, will go to projects on the Coast to Coast Walk, devised by the Kendal fellwalker.

The route, from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The calendar has been produced annually for the past four years and has sold out each time.

Derek Cockell of the society said: “Once again, the format includes photographs taken by society members, together with line drawings and quotations from the works of Alfred Wainwright.

“The calendar features twelve stunning landscape photographs of the Lake District. All profits from the sale of the calendar will be donated to Coast to Coast projects.

“The society has secured permission to waymark the route. In addition to waymarking the Coast to Coast, new information boards are being placed at each end of the walk, at St Bees and Robin Hood’s Bay.

“Any funds remaining after these projects have been completed will be donated to the mountain rescue teams that provide emergency aid in the areas through which the route passes.”

The Wainwright Society has pegged the price of the calendar at £10. It can be ordered on the society’s website.
