The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the incident on Great Dodd at the northern end of the Helvellyn range today.

The girl was walking with a party of Air and Army Cadets on the 857m (2,812ft) fell when she became very short of breath and distressed.

The Pride of Cumbria helicopter was scrambled at 12.25pm and flew to the site.
