A walker was stretchered from a Lake District mountain after she suffered an epileptic seizure.

The 57-year-old from Stockport had a fit on the zig-zag path above Keppel Cove on the Helvellyn range.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 1.50pm on Sunday and went to the scene.

A passing doctor helped the woman before the team arrived.

A Patterdale MRT spokesperson said the walker had still not fully recovered when they reached her, so she was stretchered down from the fell to the team’s Land Rover.

She was then taken to its Patterdale base for further assessment by ambulance paramedics before rejoining her party for the journey home.
