The man was on the lower slopes of Pavey Ark when he injured himself

A walker was airlifted from a Lake District fell after injuring his leg.

The 39-year-old from Surrey was walking near Bright Beck in Great Langdale yesterday when he slipped and injured himself.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 10.20am. The team was just finishing a search for a missing woman so requested help from Kendal MRT.

The Great North Air Ambulance also flew to the scene overlooking Stickle Tarn and rescuers treated the walker at the site before stretchering him to the helicopter.

This then airlifted him to a road ambulance waiting in the valley.

The four-hour rescue involved 13 members of Langdale Ambleside MRT.
