A walker was rescued from a fell in the West of the Lake District after slipping and injuring her leg.

The 51-year-old woman from York was on Burnbank Fell overlooking Loweswater today when she injured herself.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 2.15pm and 24 volunteer members went to the woman’s aid on the 475m (1,558ft) hill.

She was treated at the scene by team members and then stretchered to a waiting ambulance at Fangs Brow, north of the fell.
