The Revo Explore snowshoes gained a gold award at Ispo

A snowshoe from Seattle brand MSR has won a gold award at the giant Ispo trade fair.

The Revo Explore uses a metal perimeter for traction, combined with plastic decks.

A jury at the Munich show judged the snowshoes top in their category.

Klaus Lehner of the jury said: “The MSR snowshoe convinced the jury members because of its hybrid construction.

“This combination offers a dual advantage of perfect grip on hard snow, and low weight of the snowshoe.”

MSR said the new Revo Explore snowshoes, which are due in the shops for next winter, meld the superior grip of metal perimeter traction with the unrivalled durability, torsional flex and cold-temperature performance of its proven plastic decks.

“Combined, this engineering delivers exceptional grip and a more natural foot position on traverses, climbs and descents,” it said.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Engineered for those who prioritise all-day comfort, but still wish to venture off-trail, the Revo Explore snowshoes feature MSR’s new HyperLink Binding, MSR’s fastest, easiest and most comfortable binding to date.

“The binding’s glove-friendly two-strap ratchet system is intuitive and fast, and can easily be adjusted in the field, on the go.

“Paired with an easy-entry cradle for exceptional all-day comfort and security, the Revo Explore is a perfect option for serious snowshoe enthusiasts and first-timers alike.”

The shoes will come in two sizes to accommodate different users’ weights and heights, are should be in the shops from autumn 2014.
