Rescuers pleaded with walkers to take extra care after a man was injured after slipping in wet and windy conditions in the Lake District.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out about 3.30pm today when the 56-year-old injured his ankle while walking with friends.
The team drove its Land Rover to the site in Hayeswater Gill above the village of Hartsop, from where the walker, from Lancashire, was taken to the rescue base and handed over to an ambulance crew who took him to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
A team spokesperson said: “Patterdale MRT would like to remind people to take extra care while setting out in wet and windy conditions.”
Nine volunteer team members took part in the rescue, which took two hours.

24 February 2014That comment from the team makes the bloke look like he wasn't taking care.
I am sure he didn't go and break his ankle just to annoy them.
Telling people to take care is pretty daft really. It's the sort of remark parents say when their kids go out on their bikes.
If he fell over because it was dark and he no torch, or crap footwear, or similar, that's fine.
It's dead easy to slip on a path even when taking care, so unless the warning is constructive just say bad luck mate!
