A walker was rescued from a Lake District fell after breaking her ankle in a fall.

The 72-year-old from Cockermouth was walking near Scale Force above Buttermere yesterday when she injured herself.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called out and the Great North Air Ambulance flew to the site.

A Great North Air Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “She was treated at the scene by medics from both organisations before being flown to hospital in Carlisle.”
