The 79-year-old was on the Pennine Way

A walker had to be rescued after getting into difficulties on the Pennine Way.

The 79-year-old man was walking on the national trail near Cowling in North Yorkshire today when he began having chest pains.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association members were called out by North Yorkshire Police about 12.30pm.

Rescue team members and membes of Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team who live close to the incident made their way there and were on the scene quickly and helped air ambulance crew treat the injured man.

Other team members were then stood down en route.
