The walker slipped on the limestone pavement above Malham Cove

A walker was airlifted from a Yorkshire Dales hillside after slipping and suffering a suspected broken ankle.

The 62-year-old man was on the limestone Pavement on top of Malham Cove when he slipped on the snow-covered rocks.

The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 2.30pm today and joined ambulance crew members at the site.

Paramedics treated the walker at the scene and he was then stretchered a short distance to an air ambulance with flew him to hospital for further treatment.
