Missing walker Jim Robertson

The daughter of a missing walker has released a new picture of her father as the search for him continues in the Cairngorms.

Police appealed to climbers over the Easter holiday period to be on the lookout for anything that could help in the hunt for Jim Robertson.

Lynn Robertson issued the new shot of her 61-year-old father, a keen hillwalker, who has not been seen for a month.

Police Scotland said: “Officers along with mountain rescue teams from Aberdeen and Braemar will be looking for Jim, who is originally from the Glasgow area, and would like to remind those heading to the mountain for recreational purposes that he is still missing and to contact police if they see anything which could assist with enquiries to trace him.

Mr Robertson is thought to have stayed in the Bob Scott Bothy close to Derry Lodge on the Mar Lodge Estate. He has been missing since Wednesday, 2 March.

Inspector Matt Smith, Police Mountain Rescue Team leader, said: “We are now into the Easter holiday period and the hills are anticipated to be busy. We are keen to hear from anybody who sees anything which might assist us in our search for Jim.

“There has been some fresh snow in the area and weather permitting we will be looking to utilise helicopter support.”

Anyone with information is asked to ring police on101.

An appeal set up by Lynn Robertson to raise funds for Braemar Mountain Rescue Team has now topped £11,000, far exceeding the original £1,000 target set by the walker’s daughter.
