A walker was stretchered from a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot after injuring herself when she fell on stepping stones.

The 69-year-old was using the stones to cross the River Wharfe south of Kettlewell on Friday when she slipped.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association members were called out about 3.05pm. A team spokesperson said the woman managed to reach the bank of the river, but suffered a serious leg injury in the incident.

Rescue team members helped an ambulance paramedic treat the walker at the scene and then stretchered her to a waiting ambulance.
