A climber was injured after falling more than 30ft on a Yorkshire Dales crag.

The 57-year-old was on a route on Robin Proctor’s Scar near Austwick when he fell about 10m, injuring his head and shoulder.

The Cave Rescue Organisation was called out about 3.35pm on Sunday and went to the aid of the man, helping an ambulance paramedic reach the climber.

He was then placed in the team’s stretcher before being lowered down the steep scree slope below the climb, and taken in a team vehicle to an ambulance that was waiting at nearby Town Head. He was then taken to hospital for further treatment.
