Police have named the 65-year-old hillwalker whose body was found on Lochnagar on Sunday.

John Lea, who lived in the Aberdeen area, was reported missing after heading out for a walk on the Cairngorms mountain on Friday.

A huge search involving more than 80 people was mounted in extreme weather and Mr Lea’s body was found about noon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Our thoughts continue to be with Mr Lea’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
