A walker was airlifted after injuring herself when she slipped on wet rocks at a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot.

Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out on Friday about 4pm to the incident at Gordale Scar in Malhamdale.

The 42-year-old was walking on the edge of the beck flowing between the two waterfalls at the site when she slipped a suffered a painful shoulder injury.

A team spokesperson said: “Having been given pain relief and with her shoulder immobilised, the patient was able to walk up to the top of the scar with assistance and encouragement from team members.

“She was helped into the waiting air ambulance for the flight to hospital.”
