Joshua Cooke has been reported missing

Police are appealing for a man who has gone missing in northern Scotland.

Officers said they believe Joshua Cooke may have been planning to walk the Great Glen Way and West Highland Way.

He has not been seen for several weeks and Police Scotland said there are increasing concerns for his wellbeing.

Mr Cooke was last seen in Wick in Caithness on 9 September.

Police said the 29-year-old Yorkshire may also have walked more widely in Scotland or in the North of England.

He was reported missing on Thursday 18 October having been out of contact with his family for several weeks.

“This is out of character and as such officers are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts or recent movements to make contact as soon as possible,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

Mr Cooke is described as being more than 6ft (1.83m) tall and of slim build with blue eyes with medium to long blond hair and a bushy ginger beard.

It is not known what he was wearing but it is likely he is carrying walking or camping equipment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference NJ2713/18.
