Volunteers from Ochils Mountain Rescue Team are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who damaged the gas supply at its base.
Closed-circuit television footage revealed the incident happened at 1.03am on Boxing Day at the team’s headquarters in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire.
A team spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the team was not feeling very festive this morning.
“A team member arrived at our rescue base at Fishcross to check on our lifesaving equipment and discovered that the outside of our base had been vandalised.
“Damage has been done to our gas supply.”
After looking at its CCTV recording, Ochils MRT’s spokesperson said: “A male person in his 20s in dark trousers and a light coloured t-shirt who had been walking with a female from Fishcross to Tillicoultry was seen smashing our gas meter box open before walking away with most of it. His female friend stood and watched.
“The team would urge anyone with any information relating to this incident or dashcam footage from around the time to please contact Police Scotland on 101.”

28 December 2018This is a truly despicable act.
Everyone of us who walks in any of the UK hills & mountains depends upon these selfless heroes who will come to our rescue whenever we need them.
Any vandalism is inexcusable but to damage the life saving equipment is totally inexplicable.
I hope someone will identify them and bring them to justice.

28 December 2018The act of vandalism is beyond comprehension.
But there was almost a Darwin moment here.
Vandalising a LIVE gas meter.
Tomorrow, will this knucklehead will be juggling grenades with no pins or taking a shower with a live electric cable.
No doubt he will be up a mountain, in the dark, no torch, but will he be brave enough to call the team whose base he could have blown up.....
