A walker was rescued after going missing in north-west Scotland.

The woman was reported overdue after heading out for an expedition to tackle the four munros in the Beinn Dearg range.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team was alerted by Police Scotland about 7am on Monday.

A search involving 19 team members and a Search and Rescue Dogs Association handler and animal was began, and the Inverness Coastguard helicopter joined the operation find the walker in Wester Ross.

A team spokesperson said: “The missing person was located and safely evacuated later in the morning by Rescue 151, having apparently become disorientated in misty conditions.” She had spent the night on the hillside in poor weather.

The woman was warmed up with hot drinks before being driven back to Inverness.
