Police in the Highlands are asking the public to report sightings of a walker who has gone missing on the Cape Wrath Trail.

Ian Currie left Glenfinnan on Tuesday but failed to arrive as expected at Inverie Bunkhouse on Thursday.

Police Scotland said the 76-year-old is a keen and experienced walker. Officers said he is about 6ft (1.83m) tall, white, of medium build, wears glasses and has white hair.

A Coastguard helicopter joined mountain rescue teams in the search for the missing man.

Inspector Craig Johnstone said: “Ian is a keen walker, but this terrain can be challenging, especially in difficult weather.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been walking in this area who may have seen or met Ian to get in touch with us. Any small piece of information could assist us in locating him.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3967 of Thursday 18 September 2025.
