Police have named the man who fell his death on Bidean nam Bian on Saturday.

He was Laird McMaster, 34, of Inverkip in Inverclyde. He died of head injuries he sustained in the 600ft fall from the Glencoe mountain. One of his companions sustained a broken leg while descending.

The incident was the most serious in a series of dramas on the Scottish mountains that saw 11 people rescued in five separate locations across the Highlands. Mountain Rescue Teams were joined by RAF and Royal Navy search-and-rescue helicopters in atrocious conditions.
