South Wales Police seized five off-road bikes and arrested a number of people yesterday in their continuing campaign against countryside crime.

One of the arrests was in connection with possession of a bird of prey and the others concerned stolen vehicles. An abandoned car was also seized in the operation, mounted with Gwent Police. Gelligaer Common, Caerphilly, was the centre of one of the swoops.

In July police in the area confiscated 32 bikes in a similar operation. A number of referrals relating to Asbos was also made.
