Officers in Cumbria say they are deeply concerned for the safety of the 66-year-old man who, they fear, may have got into difficulties on the region’s fells. They are appealing for anyone who saw Christopher Dalgleish on the district’s footpaths.

Mr Dalgleish was last seen on Thursday, 22 November, shopping in Ambleside. He had bought railway tickets to travel to see family members in Darlington before being due to travel home to Harrow, Middlesex.  The police have CCTV images of him arriving at Windermere station on Tuesday, 20 November, and he is known to have visited John Ruskin’s historic home Brantwood, in Coniston.

When last seen, he was wearing a blue coat, small rucksack, walking boots and a flat cap. Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who used or worked on public transport on Thursday, 22 November, as they believe the man may have used a local bus or train to reach a destination from which to start a walk on the fells.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windermere Police Station on 0845 330 0247 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
