Buachaille Etive Mòr will feature in the filmThe latest mountain-adventure film was completed last week in the Lake District and Scotland.

But there will be no Clint Eastwood dangling from a rope on the North Face of the Eiger, nor Griff Rhys Jones quaking in the Cuillins. The latest production is a guide to getting around Britain’s hills.

The Hillwalking Essentials DVD is due for release later this year and is in the can now after filming was wrapped up on the Fairfield Horseshoe in Cumbria and on Ben Nevis and the Carn Mòr Dearg arête.

The disk is a joint venture by the British Mountaineering Council, the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and Mountain Leader Training England.

It covers the skills needed to enjoy the high ground of the British Isles, and follows two people walking in the hills. Essentials such as navigation are covered too. It is aimed both at novices and more experienced hillwalkers.

There will be an extra section on scrambling, which was filmed on Aonach Eagach and Curved Ridge, on Buachaille Etive Mòr, both overlooking Glencoe.
