A man was airlifted from a Lake District fell this afternoon after he collapsed while walking.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 1.15pm by police, who reported that the 17-year-old, from London, had collapsed above Hartsop, near Patterdale.

The young man was walking with an organised outdoor group when the incident occurred. Cumbria Air Ambulance went to the walker’s aid and he was assessed at the scene by members of the mountain rescue team and the crew of the helicopter before being flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment.

Penrith MRT also assisted in the operation.
