Westmorland Crag

Police have named the woman who died after a fall on Great Gable last Friday.

Kirsty Densham, 35, of Oxford, was scrambling on Westmorland Crag, with two others when she fell. She was on holiday with in the area with friends.

Ms Densham was described as an experienced fellwalker. Members of Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team went to the woman’s aid just after 1pm. She was airlifted by a Sea King helicopter from RAF Boulmer but pronounced dead at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.

Westmorland Crag lies on the southern flank of Great Gable, overlooking Napes Needle.
