A walker died yesterday after falling on a Lakeland fell.
The 44-year-old man from Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria was with a friend in Great Langdale when the accident happened in Dungeon Ghyll at about 9.45am on Sunday. Three mountain rescue teams went to his aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokeswoman for Cumbria Constabulary said: “He fell due to treacherous weather conditions and incurred very serious injuries.
“Twenty-one members of [Langdale and] Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, 12 members of Kendal MRT and four members of RAF Leeming MRT attended to assist the walker but sadly, despite the best attempts of all the rescue services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
She said the man’s immediate family had been informed.
The case has been passed to the coroner.
