It may seem like the projectors and lecterns have only just been packed away in Kendal, but the organisers of the town’s mountain festival want you to get your diaries out and plan for this year’s event.
The Kendal Mountain Festival has established itself on the international stage of mountaineering, with 2008’s weekend of lectures, film shows and literature competitions attracting names from the top of the mountain hierarchy. This year’s festival will take place from 19 to 22 November.
Visitors to the Cumbrian festival in 2008 included Reinhold Messner, Doug Scott, Catherine Destivelle, Andy Cave and Kenton Cool, among others. No details other than dates have yet been announced, but if you’re intent on visiting the four-day event, it might be wise to look at booking your accommodation now, as the town, on the edge of the Lake District, will no doubt be on the busy side come November.
