The Ramblers are pitching into the outdoors magazine market with the news that their magazine Walk, previously only supplied to members, will go on sale to the public.

The magazine will appear in WH Smith and the Cotswold outdoor stores from 2 March. Walk will then be in competition with established outdoor publications such as Country Walking, TGO and Trail.

The Ramblers, which is in the process of rebranding from the Ramblers’ Association, say the March issue will have 10 route-cards with Ordnance Survey maps and a regular feature will be ‘Walk and Talk’ interviews with outdoors luminaries.

Dominic Bates, Walk editor, said: “We’re really excited to be going on general sale for the first time.

“The magazine has always had a cult following from people beyond the Ramblers, but now with the new look and improved content, we’re confident the magazine will appeal to anyone with an interest in walking and the outdoors.

“Walk is unique in catering for walkers of all abilities, and looks beyond just the activity to the environment, people and policies that affect where and how we walk.

“In essence, we’re about the passion and politics of walking for all; the same values held by the Ramblers charity which funds the magazine.”

The Ramblers’ magazine website walkmag.co.uk will also be revamped.
