Echo Wall

Echo Wall

The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival gets underway tomorrow, with a programme of shows for lovers of activities from climbing to kayaking.

Among films on offer is Echo Wall, Claire MacLeod’s record of her husband Dave’s conquest of the route, high on Ben Nevis, only climbable in certain weather conditions and rated one of the most dangerous in Britain.

At the other end of the scale is the animated Paws on the Moors – Spring Chapter, a six-minute short to help walkers and their dogs enjoy the moorlands responsibly and in safety.

There will also be a programme of lectures and, on Sunday, the Great British Grade Debate, the British Mountaineering Council-led discussion on British climbing grades and how accurately they convey the experience of routes, particularly at the serious end of the scale.

Details of the festival, which is centred on the Showroom cinema in the city centre, are on the ShAFF website. The event runs from 27 February until 1 March.
