Adrian Park

Police say they are increasingly concerned about a man who went missing around the southern end of the West Highland Way.

Adrian Park was last seen on Saturday in Milngavie, the north-Glasgow suburb that is the start point for walkers tackling the 153km (95-mile) route. He was reported missing about 7pm after failing to return home in the Blanefield area.

Ochils Mountain Rescue Team, colleagues from the Lomond team and members of the Search and Rescue Dogs Association have been joined in the hunt for the 48-year-old by a Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter and police search teams with dogs.

Mr Park is described as 5ft 11in (1.8m) tall with collar-length brown hair and a moustache. He is believed to be wearing a black The North Face jacket, black polo neck top and grey walking trousers with grey and brown trainers.

Inspector Brian Sharkey of Central Scotland Police, who is leading the operation to find Mr Park, said: “We do not know where he has gone from there. His family and ourselves are growing increasingly concerned for him.

“There are no obvious signs of him preparing to leave. The weather has been inclement and with the forecast for snow we are concerned he may not be prepared for the cold spell.”
