A missing walker has been found alive but unconscious by a mountain rescue team in the Highlands.

The 62-year-old lone walker was reported missing at 9.40 last night in the Kintail area of Wester Ross. An RAF helicopter joined the Kintail, Glenelg, Torridon and RAF Mountain Rescue Teams in the search last night, along with police search dogs. The hunt for the missing man was suspended and then resumed at 7am today, Friday.

The man was found by members of the RAF MRT today at 12.15. He was flown by a Stornoway Coastguard helicopter to Belford Hospital in Fort William. A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said the walker’s condition was not known at present.

The police statement continued: “The search has now been stood down. His details are not being issued at this time and next of kin have been informed of the development.”
