A woman was airlifted to hospital after she injured her leg while on a coastal path walk.

Coastguard rescue teams from Craigmuir, Knock and Ross of Mull went to the walker’s aid after she fell on the route between Lochbuie and Carsaig on the Isle of Mull this afternoon.

A Royal Navy helicopter from HMS Gannet at Prestwick, which was on a training exercise in the area, evacuated the woman to the Lorne and the Isles Hospital on Mull.

The Coastguard was alerted by ambulance staff at 3.45pm on Wednesday and launched the rescue mission to aid the woman, who is believed to have been on holiday in the area with her partner and her three children.
