A walker was airlifted to hospital after injuring herself on a Lake District fell.
Members of the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team were called to help the woman who had injured her knee near the summit of Wetherlam at 12.55pm yesterday, Saturday.
Rescuers treated the walker on the 762m (2,500ft) mountain, part of the Coniston Fells range. She was then flown by the North West Air Ambulance to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
Later the same afternoon, the team was called to aid a runner who had injured his ankle while taking part in the Hawkshead Trail Race. Rescuers were called at 3.30pm to help the runner, who was treated and brought to safety.
The 15km (9-mile) race is the first of the Lakeland Trails series of four races held throughout the district.
