A walker was airlifted from a Highland mountain after injuring his ankle.

Police at Fort William were alerted about 1.45pm yesterday, Saturday, that the man had suffered the injury while walking on Garbh Bheinn above Glen Tarbert in Lochaber.

A Royal Navy Sea King helicopter from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire flew the walker from the 885m (2,904ft) peak for treatment at Belford Hospital, Fort William.

A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said the man’s details were not being released.
