A walker was found safe and well after going missing overnight on the isle of Harris.

Three Coastguard teams joined officers from the Northern Constabulary in the search for the 46-year-old man, who was reported missing yesterday after failing to return from a walk in the Loch Langabhat area.

The Stornoway Coastguard helicopter joined the search and the walker was found about noon today by the aircraft’s crew, between Loch Morsgail and Loch Rèasort, a sea loch on the western shore of the island.

A police spokesperson said the man, who has not been named, was well, but cold.
