The injury happened while the woman was walking down Ben Nevis's track

A walker was stretchered from Britain’s highest mountain after injuring herself.

The incident happened when the woman, who has not been named, was descending from Ben Nevis.

Police at Fort William were alerted at 9.10pm on Friday that a hillwalker had been injured. Members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team went to the woman’s aid and she was carried off the mountain.

She was subsequently taken to Belford Hospital, Fort William, for treatment to her leg.
