Stewart Sutherland

The friend of a hillwalker missing for more than two weeks has made a renewed plea to fellow walkers to help find the man.

Glasgow man Stewart Sutherland has not been seen since he left the Great Glen Water Park near Invergarry on 20 September. His red Peugeot car was found in Glenelg and a major search mounted by teams in the Kintail area.

Today, Derek Clark renewed the appeal and released a new picture of his friend, a keen walker. Mr Clark has also passed the picture on to police to help the search.

Mr Clark said Mr Sutherland is presumed lost in Kintail – either on Beinn Fhada or the Glen Affric hills.

A search by members of the Kintail, Skye and RAF Kinloss Mountain Rescue Teams last Thursday, aided by Search and Rescue Dogs Association and a Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth failed to find the walker.

Mr Clark said his friend may be wearing dark blue anorak and trousers. He is 52, 6ft 3in (1.91m), well built with short wavy sandy coloured hair which is going grey.

Anyone with information about Mr Sutherland’s whereabouts is asked to contact Northern Constabulary on 0845 6005703.
