A walker was treated by rescuers for a broken arm after slipping at a Yorkshire Dales beauty spot.

The 71-year-old woman fell on hard-packed snow in Clapdale Wood near Clapham, North Yorkshire.

Members of the Cave Rescue Organisation were alerted at about 12.10pm yesterday, Saturday, and went to the walker’s aid. She was treated at the scene by members of the organisation, whose volunteers carry out rescues on the fells and in the caves of the Yorkshire Dales.

The rescue team brought the woman back down to their headquarters in a team vehicle for further treatment and she was then taken in a 4×4 ambulance to hospital.
