A woman was stretchered from a Lakeland fell after falling and injuring her ankle.

Members of the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team were alerted today at about 3.15pm after the walker fell near Scale Beck, above Crummock Water in the western Lake District.

She was treated at the scene by the rescuers then carried to Buttermere and taken by ambulance to West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven for further treatment. 23 members of Cockermouth MRT took part in the rescue.
